How do I masterize

In the mastering I basically center my work in properly equalize the mix and increase the volume to commercial levels.

I summarize below the process I follow, in wich I mainly use software and plugins.

Before I start, I listen to your mix to check that meets minimum quality and that there is no rare things (such saturation , too strong or weak instruments , etc...).

Then I perform a more technical analysis eliminating offset and noise, if any , and whenever possible. In this respect , anything that I find that cannot be fixed, I will immediately write you for explain you and see if it can be solved.

The next thing I do is normalize the wave and put it in my mastering equipment, consisting of three stages.

In the first stage I perform a "technical" equalization, to achieve that each frequency is in the right amount and controlled . For this process, I use both an equalizer as a multiband compressor, producing an initial increase in the volume of the mix.

In the second stage I adjust the stereo image of the mix and proceed to make a "fine" equalization to make the music sound as "pretty" as possible. I sometimes use an exciter at this point in very small doses to get a little more brightness or forcefulness.

In the last step I perform the final volume increase to professional standards using a limiter.

I would like to comment here that this process also helps me to tweak the mix in the case that any instrument (or set of instruments) is too strong or weak. The result won't be the same as if I perform the mix from scratch, but sometimes you can tweak these things during mastering.

After this process, I send the resulting file to you so you can listen to and consider if it is good.

Sometimes the work does not end here because, either because there is a problem with the original mixture, either because the client wants to change something in the sound, I must remaster the song (with no extra charge) to correct the problems that have been encountered. This leads usually between 2 or 3 iterations , which usually will take me 4 to 5 days to end the work.
